The Fatherland Liberation War ended in a great victory for the Korean army and people on July 27 1953. By winning the war, they humbled the US imperialists who had boasted of being the “strongest” in the world and exploded the myth about their “mightiness” for the first time in history. That day, fireworks were displayed over the sky of Pyongyang in celebration of victory in the war. Sixty three years have passed since then. The Korean people celebrate this day every year. On June 25 1950 the US imperialists mounted a war against the DPRK. They hurled into the war a two-million-strong force of their aggressor army including one third of the army, one fifth of the air force, most of the Pacific Fleet and their 15 vassal states, the south Korean puppet troops and the Japanese militarists. During the war they perpetrated the most vicious and brutal bombing and shelling, killing and plunder, completely reducing Korea to ashes. But they fell to their knees before the Korean people and the Korean People’s Army, a regular army which was only two years old. The “Smith task force” of the 24th US infantry division was annihilated at the Osan line in a matter of minutes. It boasted that the war situation would be changed if the KPA was informed that they appeared in the Korean front. The US 8th Army Commander Walker, a murderous war general, was killed by a mine laid by a KPA small unit. The US 24th Division Commander Dean was captured by a 19-year-old private of the KPA in the battle for liberating Taejon, a paradigm of encircling and annihilating operations recorded in the world history of warfare. Fierce battles were fought on Height 1211 and around Lake Jangjin in the eastern and northern parts of Korea. Numerous US soldiers were killed there. Still now, they are calling on the US policy makers not to forget the lesson from the Korean war. During the war, the US imperialists sustained heavy human and material loss: 1 567 128 of enemy including 405 498 US soldiers, 1 130 965 south Korean puppet troops, and 30 665 soldiers of their vassal states were killed, wounded or captured. The loss sustained by the US imperialists in terms of military strength and combat equipment was nearly 2.3 times what they had sustained in the four-year Pacific war. Then, what brought these miracles and myths of victory? The answer to this question is found in the confessions of the US generals who took part in the Korean war, and statements and comments of many foreign politicians and mass media. According to them, the main cause for US defeat in the Korean war is the US was too ignorant of General Kim Il Sung of the DPRK. Kim Il Sung defeated the million-strong Japanese imperialists, who ran amuck in order to realize its ambition of creating the “Greater East Asia Coprosperity Sphere,” styling itself as the “leader of Asia,” and founded the first people-centred country in the East. He smashed endless US military offensives by employing protean guerrilla tactics and unique tactics of modern warfare and led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory. Today, the national defence capabilities of the DPRK have increased beyond comparison with those in the 1950s. The KPA possesses H-bomb to counter the US war moves and nuclear threats and made its nuclear weapons small-sized, light and multifarious and waits for its Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un to give final order. During the Korean war the US could not defeat the KPA armed with conventional weapons such as rifles and grenades by means of nuclear weapons. Now that the KPA is equipped with nuclear weapons, the US cannot defeat it. This is the unanimous opinion of the international community. The DPRK has already joined the front rank of nuclear powers. It is determined to annihilate any enemies which do harm to its system and dignity no matter where they are on the globe. The downfall of the US, the self-styled world superpower, is now a matter of time. The US is advised not to behave recklessly, aware that its downfall is decided when the DPRK decides to do so.
