A national meeting took place at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on February 15 in celebration of the 75th birth anniversary of
Kim Jong Il, the eternal leader of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Korean people.
It was attended by officials from Party and military organs, ministries and national agencies, service personnel of the Korean People’s Army and the Korean People’s Internal Security Forces, officials from institutions and industrial establishments in Pyongyang, those who had been honoured with the audience of the great leader, persons of meritorious deeds, families of revolutionary martyrs and working people.
Also present there were overseas Koreans’ congratulatory groups and delegations, who were on a visit to the socialist motherland on the occasion of the Day of Shining Star, including the group from Japan, individual compatriots and the representative of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-imperialist National Democratic Front.
Invited there were resident diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations, military attaches and other foreign guests.
Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army, attended the meeting.
It was addressed by Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly.
“February 16 that was engraved as imperishable letters in the annals of the stirring 20th century is shining as an extremely lucky day of having greeted a great man born of Heaven who would lead the noble cause of independence of our people and the world’s progressives along the road of victory for all ages,” he noted.
He referred to the fact that Chairman Kim Jong Il who was born as a son of guerrillas on Mt Paektu, sacred mountain of the revolution, set it as his lifelong mission to carry forward the cause of the Juche revolution started by President Kim Il Sung and devoted his whole life to this end.
He described the Chairman as a brilliant thinker and theoretician who illumined the road of eternal victory of the cause of independence for the people, the socialist cause, with extraordinary wisdom, as the champion of justice and unrivalled Songun commander who honourably defended socialism of Juche and ensured its dynamic advance in the face of unprecedented ordeals, as a peerless statesman and illustrious leader who translated the socialist ideal of Juche into reality on this land and provided a sure guarantee of final victory and as a pre-eminent veteran statesman who made a tangible contribution to the development of the socialist movement as he masterminded the world politics.
“As the Korean people have held Kim Jong Un, who is the supreme incarnation of loyalty to the leader and who is identical with
Kim Jong Il in terms of ideology, leadership and noble personality traits, in high esteem as their leader, the socialist cause of Juche is advancing dynamically towards final victory under the uplifted banner of modelling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism,” he said.
He emphasized that the revolutionary career and undying exploits of the great leader would shine for all ages as he devoted his all to national prosperity and the people’s well-being, laid the solid foundation for the victory of the cause of independence for the people, the cause of socialism, and opened up the brilliant prospects of the glorious era of Kim Jong Un.
