On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, O Hyong Jin, permanent adviser to the Korean History Institute in Japan, published an article entitled “History of warm affection and blood relationship is everlasting”.
The article said that the President, who had experienced the sufferings under the jackboot of Japan and the sorrow of living in an alien land in his early years, had taken responsible care of Koreans in Japan for decades since the period of the anti-Japanese war and showed close concern and solicitude to enable them to lead an honorable life with the pride and honour of being the citizens of the DPRK. It also said such warm love continued to be shown by Chairman Kim Jong Il and Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
It referred to the facts that the President sent a historic letter to them in the year after Korea’s liberation to tell them the way ahead, newly elucidated the nature and character of overseas Koreans’ movement for the first time in history, led them to form the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and helped the compatriots go along the road of patriotic movement for their homeland and nation.
The President looked after them with paternal affection all his life, sending educational aid and stipends for their democratic national education every year for decades and opening the sea route for their repatriation which was termed a “great racial migration from capitalism to socialism”, it noted.
The Koreans in Japan realized their genuine country and cultivated the genuine soul of patriotism in the foreign country as they forged ties of warm affection with the President, and accordingly they had conducted a dynamic movement true to his teachings and by holding the DPRK as their motherland, the article emphasized.
It concluded that Chongryon’s original features of patriotic loyalty were established through the history of forging bonds of kinship between the great leaders and the Supreme Leader and the Koreans in Japan and therein lie the strength and victory of Chongryon.
