Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army, inspected a test of a strategic weapons system which was scheduled to be put into service.
He was accompanied by senior officials of the WPK Central Committee including Ri Pyong Chol, Kim Jong Sik, Jong Sung Il, Yu Jin and Jo Yong Won, as well as General Kim Rak Gyom, commander of the KPA Strategic Force.
He came to the observation post with the officials where he gave an order to start the test.
Pukkuksong 2, a homemade ground-to-ground intermediate-range strategic ballistic rocket, blasted off with a thunderous boom, spouting a gush of flame.
The test launch fully verified the reliability and accuracy of the cold launch system based on caterpillar self-propelled vehicle, the guide and stabilization system during the active flight, stage separation and starting and operation of high-thrust solid-fuelled motors.
Remote measurement data revalidated all the technical indexes in the sections of middle control and terminal guide of the separated nuclear warhead, and images from a camera mounted on the warhead further determined the accuracy of the position control system.
The test also fully checked the adaptability of the caterpillar self-propelled launcher and other overground equipment in a real combat environment.
Kim Jong Un examined the launch results with the officials at the observation post and called the test a picture-perfect success before approving the deployment of the weapons system for active service.
He saw the images of the earth which were transmitted from the warhead-mounted camera in real time, and said the tactical and technical specifications of Pukkuksong 2 have reached the goal set by the Party. And he stressed the need to start serial mass production of the weapons system to equip the KPA Strategic Force with it.
He specified strategic tasks to be tackled in boosting the country’s nuclear force, pointing to the need to step up the diversification and upgrade of the nuclear capability, giving the US imperialists and their lackeys no breathing space.
He extended warm congratulations to the defence scientists, technicians, workers and officials who succeeded again in the high-stakes test launch, and had a photograph taken with them.
