Pyongyang people got together at Kim Il Sung Square on June 25 to mark the Day of Anti-US Struggle.
The venue was packed with citizens from all walks of life who were determined to wipe out the US imperialist aggressors hell-bent on reckless provocation to unleash a nuclear war against the DPRK.
The rally was addressed by Cha Hui Rim, chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal People’s Committee.
The US that started a war of aggression against the DPRK on June 25 1950 employed every brutal method and means to commit unheard-of massacres and indiscriminate destruction, using internationally-banned biological and chemical weapons, he said. It even attempted to use atomic bombs to exterminate the Korean nation, he decried. Although more than six decades have passed since guns fell silent on this land, he noted, the aggressors are still watching for a chance to invade the DPRK as they go wild to stifle it, instead of drawing lessons from their ignominious defeat in the three-year war in the 1950s.
Saying the people are confronted with the tasks of putting an end to the protracted anti-US showdown and achieving the final victory in the building of a thriving socialist country, he stated that if the US and south Korean warmongers bring the dark clouds of nuclear war over the country, the DPRK army and people would destroy and annihilate the aggressors on the strength of single-hearted unity, invincible armed forces and self-reliance and self-development, thereby achieving the historic cause of national reunification.
Other speakers described the US imperialists as the sworn enemy and mastermind behind all manner of aggression and evil with whom the Koreans cannot live together on this planet, and scathingly denounced them for trying to inflict war calamities on the nation yet again.
Holding aloft the banner of self-reliance and self-development, they said, all the workers would keep up the resolute general offensive to hit the targets of the five-year strategy for national economic development and give full play to the indomitable spirit of the heroic working class of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Agricultural workers, they noted, would make the zeal for scientific farming pervade the countryside to do farming as required by the Juche farming methods, keeping in mind the sense of responsibility that they are on the agricultural front, the frontline trench in the forward echelon of the campaign to defend socialism, so as to safeguard Korean socialism with increased grain production and crush the moves of the US and its lackeys to mount anti-DPRK sanctions and pressure. They emphasized that all the young people would continue to produce a new legend of heroic youth in the campaign to create the Mallima speed for building a powerful socialist country of Juche, the paradise of the people, thereby meting out a punishment to the enemies.
Then there was a demonstration of the participants.
They marched past the square to the tune of band music, holding placards, slogan-boards and posters reflecting their resolve to annihilate the US aggressors and reunify the country.
Similar events were held in each province.
