S. Korean Authorities Should Make Responsible Choice for North-South Relations: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday says in an article that the improvement of the north-south relations is starting-point for peace and reunification and unanimous demand of the entire nation.
In order to mend the north-south ties, it is important to stop every mud-slinging that incites mistrust and hostility between fellow countrymen, the article says, and goes on:
If the south Korean authorities truly want the improved north-south relations, they should make a decision to stop a smear campaign against the fellow countrymen, to begin with.
It is a factor of checking the improvement of the north-south relations that the south Korean authorities raise the settlement of the "north's nuclear issue" as a precondition of dialogue.
The nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula has nothing to do with the improvement of the north-south relations as it was spawned due to the U.S. hostile policy and nuclear threat to the DPRK.
It is the issue to be settled between the DPRK and the U.S. from A to Z.
The south Korean authorities are linking the settlement of the nuclear issue to dialogue between the north and the south. This is an unpardonable anti-reunification crime as it is an act of following in the footsteps of the Lee Myung Bak and Park Geun Hye groups of traitors who bedeviled the north-south relations in collusion with outsiders and got hell-bent on moves to stifle the DPRK, crying for the "dismantlement of nuclear weapons in the north".
They should understand that their talk about "sanctions and pressure accompanied by dialogue" will drive the north-south relations deeper into the mire of mistrust and confrontation.
If the present south Korean authorities respect the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration and speak for the candlelight demonstrators, they should take positive measures to mend the north-south relations, far from the old conception of confrontation, not reading the faces of the U.S. and conservative group.
They are well advised to make a choice in a responsible manner, under the crucial situation where a radical turn should be brought in improving the north-south relations and reunifying the country independently under the banner of By the Korean Nation Itself. -0-
