Amid a fierce campaign to clean up deep-rooted evils of the Park Geun Hye regime, south Koreans are increasingly calling for dissolution of the conservative Liberty Korea Party.
Such move is spreading like wildfire even to Taegu and Kyongsang provincial areas, the so-called stronghold of the conservatives.
The residents take to streets almost every day to denounce the party for wrongdoings. They argue that during the reigns of Lee Myung Bak and Park Geun Hye the region fell behind other areas economically, the projected “airport building in Southeast Asia” was cancelled and the THAAD system was deployed to pose a threat to the residents. Not long ago, they even held the party’s “funeral”, drawing media attention.

The anti-conservative struggle is the manifestation of the locals’ frustration with the conservatives and their aspiration after new politics and new life.
However, the conservatives are putting up desperate defiance.
They clamour for “exact eradication of evils” in an attempt to deflect public attention while seeking to marshal conservative forces again.
Recently, many Blue House documents worked out during the previous government have been uncovered and an extensive reinvestigation has been conducted into the scandal involving Park Geun Hye and Choe Sun Sil and political intervention by the “national intelligence service”. The conservative group described that as “political vengeance” and “killing of the conservative” and even boycotted parliamentary session in retaliation. They incite conservative media to slander the disclosure of the Blue House documents as a “bid to exert an influence on the trial of Park Geun Hye” while crying out that the failure of her regime is not the failure of the conservatives.
They are already bracing themselves up for the local autonomy election slated for June next year, saying they “should win the election” and “will reclaim power with the election as the starting point”.
The Liberty Korea Party and its splinter group have recently selected their new representatives with an eye to saving the embattled conservative camp and paving the way for coming back to power through next year’s local election.
But will the evil-ridden parties be able to attain the goal?
