The US describes the DPRK as a world nuclear criminal, dubbing its measures to boost the nuclear deterrent “threat” to and “provocation” against the world.
But historical and present facts demonstrate that the truth is the other way round.
Already during the 1950-53 Korean war the US schemed to ship nuclear weapons into south Korea in an attempt to mount a nuclear attack on the DPRK.
At the time President Truman said the use of atomic bomb was under consideration and ordered the US strategic flying corps to be on standby so that it could fly bombers to the Far East on an immediate A-bomb dropping mission.
Eisenhower who replaced him as American President blustered they would not hesitate to use A-bombs in Korea, saying it was necessary to use them in order to take more practical action.
Due to US nuclear blackmail, lots of locals deserted their homes to seek refuge in south Korea, hence the issue of separated families and relatives in the Korean peninsula.
Afterwards, the US made it a policy to deploy nuclear weapons in south Korea, and brought in Honest John nuclear missile, 280mm-calibre atomic gun, B-61 nuclear bomb and the like in the name of the “UN Forces” on January 29 1958.
It also shipped in various nuclear missiles and bombs en masse, saying it was regretful it failed to use atomic bomb during the Korean war and describing the peninsula as a point of strategic importance, a nuclear target and a nuclear war testing ground. The number of such nukes amounted to over 1 000 in the 1970s and more than 1 720 in the 1980s.
The US has also staged DPRK-targeted nuclear war rehearsals incessantly in south Korea.
US-south Korea nuclear war games that started with Focus Retina in 1969 have persisted for decades under such code names as Freedom Bolt, Team Spirit, RSOI, Key Resolve, Foal Eagle and Ulji Freedom Guardian.
In particular, as they staged Ulji Freedom Guardian 17 last August, they enforced the “beheading operation” and “secret operation” aimed at “eliminating” the DPRK’s supreme leadership in accordance with OPLAN 5015, a preemptive-oriented war scenario, discarding the deceptive “annual” and “defensive” signboard they had put up outwardly for those drills.
No country except the DPRK has been exposed to such heinous nuclear threat for more than half a century.
It is an evident breach of international law that a nuclear weapons state threatens a non-nuclear state or introduces nuclear weapons in such countries and regions.
In disregard of international law, the US does not hesitate to commit all manner of outrages to serve its purpose of aggression.
It is the truth taught by history that such criminals should be dealt with by no other means than the nukes of justice.
That is why the DPRK chose to build a self-defensive nuclear deterrent to defend its sovereignty and its people and is steadily building up its nuclear capability to overpower the nukes of tyranny.
The Second Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in Pyongyang on October 7 declared that the DPRK’s nuclear weapons are a priceless fruit of its people’s painstaking efforts to protect their country’s destiny and sovereignty from the long-standing nuclear threats by the US imperialists, a powerful deterrent that helps safeguard peace and security in the Korean peninsula and other parts of Northeast Asia and that fully guarantees the nation’s rights to sovereignty, existence and development, and a treasure sword of justice with which to drive out the nuclear cloud of tyranny bringing a tragic catastrophe to mankind and to ensure the people lead an independent, worthwhile life.
