Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un stressed the need to further strengthen the might of single-hearted unity between the Party and the people at the Second Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea on October 7.
Describing single-hearted unity as the cornerstone of the existence of the Korean Party and state and the most powerful weapon of the Korean revolution, he said the Party and state should direct and subordinate all their activities to promoting single-mindedness among the revolutionary ranks and the Party should work harder to develop such a revolutionary trait of serving the people wholeheartedly.
In retrospect, the history of the WPK is that of single-hearted unity in which the WPK emerged victorious and made a steady advance on the strength of the unity.
In the whirlwind of factional and party strife in the 1920s a new generation of Korean communists and revolutionary fighters waged a 20-year-long anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle holding Kim Il Sung at the centre of unity and finally liberated Korea.
The single-hearted unity which was achieved at the dawn of the Korean revolution has been inherited and cemented along with the development of the revolution.
In the period of building a new Korea after liberation the Koreans responded to General Kim Il Sung’s appeal for turning out in nation building—those with strength giving their strength, those with knowledge giving their knowledge and those with money giving their money—with the general ideological mobilization movement for nation building, the patriotic movement of donating grains and other mass drives, thereby laying the foundations of democracy.
During the grim Fatherland Liberation War against US armed invasion, they also venerated and followed the invincible and iron-willed commander with one mind. Even in the period of temporary strategic retreat of the Korean People’s Army, the enemy’s modern guns, tanks, aircraft and atomic bombs could not break the confidence of the service personnel and people including an ordinary farmer from Poptong, Kangwon Province, who said they could make a living only when they followed President Kim Il Sung.
After the war the firm unity of the leader, Party and people helped turn socialist Korea into a “Chollima Korea” and a model of socialism.
It made further development under the wise leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il.
While leading the revolution for nearly half a century, he developed the WPK into a party ensuring uniformity of ideology and leadership and a motherly party taking root deep among the broad masses of people and maintaining the ties of kinship with them.
The WPK’s benevolent politics, all-embracing politics, made the whole Party, the entire army and all the people an integral whole sharing mind with the leader, breathing the same breath as him and keeping pace with him.
After the President passed away, the DPRK was compelled to make an Arduous March and forced march in the face of consecutive natural disasters plus the imperialists’ mounting sanctions and moves to isolate and stifle the country. At the time the Americans blustered that north Korea would collapse in three days’, three months’ or three years’ time, which turned out to be the “foresight” of imbeciles who were too steeped in mammonism and individualism to be aware of the word “single-hearted unity”.
Far from falling down, the DPRK got stronger and rose up more imposingly on the strength of the unity around the Chairman.
Today, the country is advancing dynamically towards final victory in the building of a powerful socialist country under the unified leadership of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. It has joined the front ranks of the world’s military powers, having the “absolute weapon” of H-bomb and ICBM under its belt.
The Korean people have also made eye-opening achievements in other domains of politics, the economy and culture firmly rallying around the leader.
With single-minded unity as the most powerful weapon, the DPRK constructed Mirae Scientists Street and Wisong Scientists Dwelling District in a short span of time, produced legends of turning adversity into favourable conditions during 70-day and 200-day campaigns and the rehabilitation of the northern afflicted areas, built Ryomyong Street as it pounded on the enemy’s sanctions, blockade and other vicious moves with the hammer of self-development and boosted nuclear capability for the defence of socialism by performing miracles uninterruptedly.
The Korean people, who established the brilliant tradition of single-hearted unity under the leadership of the President and the Chairman and advanced along the road of victory and glory thwarting all challenges of history by dint of the unity, will surely hasten the day of final victory in the building of a thriving socialist country holding the Supreme Leader in high esteem as the centre of unity and leadership.
