Injustice of world-disturbing ‘threat’ argument laid bare

The world is now unprecedentedly restless in a whirlpool of the US-led racket against the DPRK.
This unheard-of anti-DPRK campaign designed to encroach on the legitimate state’s sovereignty, dignity and rights to existence and development is being justified and rationalized by US argument about “north Korea’s nuclear threat”. It is the sinister design of the US to isolate and ostracize the DPRK on the international arena by criminalizing it with the unfounded assertion that its access to nuclear weapons is a “serious challenge” to the international community and “threat” to global peace and security and by creating an impression that the toughest sanctions are a due punishment for that.
Who threatens who?
At the recent UN General Assembly session the US ruler stated that the US has no choice but to totally destroy north Korea and it is ready, willing and able to do so.
Even leading American media described his wild remarks as a speech of a gang leader, instead of a politician, and a confusing and bellicose statement loaded with nationalism, fearing the rhetoric would aggravate the already strained DPRK-US relationship and seriously jeopardize the situation in the Korean peninsula and beyond.
The US has deployed armed forces and nuclear war assets huge enough to fight several wars in and around the peninsula on a constant basis and incessantly staged large-scale joint military exercises against the DPRK under the deceptive “annual” and “defensive” signboard every year, obstinately hindering its peaceful development.
The Americans who undisguisedly revealed their intention to use atomic bombs in the Korean war in the 1950s have never ceased to pose nuclear threat to the DPRK and such a bid has overstepped the mark at this time of the Trump regime that openly clamours for “America first” and lunatic strategy.
Preliminary proof is enough to clearly show that the US is the assailant and intimidator and the DPRK is the greatest victim.
DPRK’s option is just and leaves no room for argument
The core of “north Korea’s nuclear threat” argument the US and its lackeys persist in is the “illegality” of its possession of nuclear weapons.
The DPRK deemed it unnecessary to seek nuclear capability requiring enormous national resources during the Cold War when the confrontation between nuclear states formed the international political landscape and peace was maintained by nuclear equilibrium. But it was compelled to change its mind as it had to defend itself singlehanded in the face of nuclear blackmail and war moves of the US after the Soviet Union-led socialist camp collapsed. This is a view shared by the world’s intellect and conscience.
It was not that the DPRK was engrossed in nuclear development from the beginning.
The DPRK did its utmost to eliminate the decades-long hostile relationship with the US and seek a way for its security and peaceful development, and embarked on dialogue with the US in this regard and the rest is history.
Today the US persistently spreads the “north Korea’s nuclear threat” in an attempt to turn the table by changing DPRK-US confrontation into that between the DPRK and international community, and to mobilize as many countries as possible in the sanctions and pressure against the latter and then destroy it with the help of them.
Sympathizers of the US’ argument can be divided into a few categories.
Some of them are pro-US nations whose strategy for existence is subservience as its junior allies. Others are poor-spirited ones who follow the US in fear of being retaliated for opposing it though they know the US demands too much.
The big powers are holding hands with the US to pursue their selfish interests in hopes of maintaining the current nuclear power-centred international order, while recognizing the DPRK’s option is right.
If the possession of nukes means a threat to peace of humanity, those nations which built nuclear weapons first and stockpile the largest amount should destroy them first and move towards denuclearization of the world. They must, before denouncing the DPRK’s nukes as a threat, dismantle their own, which amount to thousands and have done every harm to the DPRK and other non-nuclear states.
‘Good solution to the crisis’
The White House constantly argues that military strike, sanctions and pressure are the only solution, while advocating “dialogue is useless”. Some raise objection to anti-DPRK military attack with the understanding that it will break regional peace and security, but boisterously argue for more intense and tighter economic embargo and political and diplomatic pressure to bring the DPRK to its knees.
It should be noted that all these are not solutions, but a risky gamble that will make the current crisis more complicated and acuter and drive the world as well as the Korean peninsula to a thermonuclear war they have never seen before.
Someone said that “he who tied the bell should untie it” in a discussion about the solutions to the issue between the DPRK and the US. It, to some extent, hints at the solution to the DPRK-US nuclear standoff which has grown sharper and more complicated as the days go by.
The root cause of this standoff, which has surfaced as a focus of international politics, is the US policy of hostility to the DPRK from the beginning to the end.
Trump, who is yet a freshman in politics and military affairs, asserts that the US cannot allow the north Korean issue to go unchecked and something should be done, as if he could do something big. But if he drives the nuclear war engine along the abortive “track” as it is now, he cannot but reach the terminus of USA’s doom.
What will be different from his predecessors’ in the results of Trump’s policy of hostility to the DPRK is that whereas theirs pushed the latter’s nuclear development process, his will end in a fatal defeat which verifies the final completion of its nuclear programme through a real war.
This is an abridgement of Jong Hyon’s comment “To lay bare injustice of controversial ‘north Korea’s nuclear threat’ argument” carried on October 19 on Rodong Sinmun, organ of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
