Senior government officials visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun to pay homage to Chairman Kim Jong Il on February16, the Day of the Shining Star.
Present at the ceremony were Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly; Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and premier of the Cabinet; other senior government officials; chairman of a friendly party; and officials from the Cabinet, working people’s organizations, ministries and national agencies.
In front of the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il was a basket of flowers with a red ribbon bearing the name of Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army.
There was also a basket of flowers jointly presented by the WPK Central Committee, the WPK Central Military Commission and the DPRK State Affairs Commission.
A flower basket was placed before the statues in the name of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly and the DPRK Cabinet.
Senior government officials showed respects to the statues of the great leaders.
They then stepped into the hall of immortality where Chairman Kim Jong Il lies in state and made a deep bow to him looking back upon his great revolutionary life and exploits.
They looked round the hall preserving the medals conferred on him in reflection of the immense admiration of the Korean people and the world’s progressives, and the halls in which are the sedan, battery-powered car, ship and carriage he had used on inspection tours and foreign trips until the last days of his life.
