The Samjiyon Orchestra that wrapped up the congratulatory performances for the 23rd Winter Olympic Games gave a homecoming performance at the Mansudae Art Theatre in Pyongyang on February 16.
The entertainers of the orchestra had conveyed to the southerners the heartfelt wish of the northerners for the success of the big event common to the nation and stoked up the enthusiasm of all the Koreans for reunification through splendid and impressive performances.
The homecoming performance was seen by Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee, other senior officials of the Party Central Committee and officials and creative and performing artists in the art sector.
Starting with prelude Glad to See You and White Snow Falls, the entertainers staged such numbers as female chorus Fly High, Doves and light music My Country Is Best.
They sublimated the Korean people’s aspirations to fructify the opportunity of national reconciliation and unity, which was provided by the noble love for the nation and courageous resolution of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, into an enchanting world of music by dint of a new, original form of representation of song and enthusiastic and refined playing of musical instruments as well as virtuosity.
The performance won a big hand as it wonderfully represented the musical sentiment of the nation.
The entertainers also played Arirang and other world-famous songs for orchestral music Familiar Melody with great artistry, as well as south Korean songs that had left a deep impression on the southern fellow countrymen.
Female trio Paektu and Halla Are Part of Our Country and finale Our Wish Is Reunification and See You Again reflected the Korean people’s determination to make concerted efforts to put an end to the tragedy of national division and bring the day of independent reunification of the country without fail.
The WPK Central Committee highly appreciated the Samjiyon Orchestra for presenting a performance, which had received a tumultuous ovation also from the southerners, by mirroring the nationals’ ardent desire for reunification and their will to realize it, and hoped that the creative and performing artists of the art troupe would continue to conduct enterprising and revolutionary creative activities dynamically.
