With the Hwaeppul Cup football tournament, which kick-started on August 1, coming to a close, heated debates about would-be semifinalists are taking place among the soccer fans.
Ranking prediction for Group A is becoming a topic for conversation.
“Group A consists of strong powers. For example, Kigwancha is famous for proactive change of tactics, Hwaeppul is featured by good collaboration, and Ryomyong boasts good physical and technical preparedness and teamwork. They have little difference in strength. Amnokgang is no exception for its remarkable performance in recent months. It is hard to presuppose rankings till the end of matches,” a fan said after the draw for group matches.
The present situation seems to go as he predicted.
Sonbong and Jebi which lost all three matches have already vanished out, whereas the contest between the above-mentioned four clubs is getting fiercer.
Hwaeppul had drawn matches with Kigwancha and Ryomyong, while Ryomyong beat its rival Kigwancha 1-0.
“Now Amnokgang leads other clubs, but its prospect is hardly optimistic as it has to play with odds-on favourites Kigwancha and Hwaeppul. I hope Amnokgang would advance to the semifinals,” said Jon Yong Jin, an Amnokgang fan.
Kigwancha clashed with Sonbong on August 14.
Both clubs tried offensive from the kick-off with a deep understanding of each other through the previous premier league matches.
Amid the fierce struggle to control the midfield and the seesaw battle, Kigwancha opened the scoring in the closing time of the first half.
No. 29 netted the low and fast ball centred by No. 24 Rim Kwang Hyok with a cracking diving header.
Kigwancha picked up speed and scored the winning goal just one minute after the first scoring from corner kick.
Sonbong attempted to make up for the loss, but it failed to break through the defence line of Kigwancha till the end.
