Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday dedicates an editorial to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards.
Thanks to its foundation on Jan. 14, Juche 48 (1959), all the people were armed; the whole country was fortified; the country's military might has been bolstered up in every way and the successful advance in socialist construction firmly guaranteed.
The 60-year history of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards is the praiseworthy course during which the people have reliably defended the socialist motherland and the gains of the revolution under the wise leadership of the Party.
Thanks to the People's Army, the most elite revolutionary strong army, and the mighty militia force, the security of the socialist homeland and the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche are firmly guaranteed.
Our revolution is ever-victorious as there is the militia force, whose most important mission is to devotedly defend the leader, and it will defend the dignity of the supreme leadership in the country at any cost.
The members of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards are putting spurs to the rounding off of the preparations for the combat to reliably defend their provinces, counties and birthplaces. Thanks to their devoted efforts, all the people are being armed and the whole country is being successfully fortified.
The victorious advance of the country and its rapid development would be unthinkable without the members of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards with a rifle in one hand and a hammer, sickle or brush in the other.
The Worker-Peasant Red Guards is a great pride and strength of our country as it is the only model of militia force in the world and matchless ranks with the boundless loyalty to the Party and the leader, a high revolutionary spirit, a strong sense of organization and discipline and the collective spirit.
