Exercise enhances the function of digestive system and increases the amount of secretion of digestive fluid, promoting digestion and absorption.
This notwithstanding, exercise must be done on a scientific basis.
When doing exercises of high intensity the sympathetic nervous system is excited and the blood vessels of the internal organs are contracted, so taking a meal after doing such exercises is bad for health.
As a large amount of blood is needed in the course of digestion, if exercise is done soon after taking a meal, it will cause difficulty for digestion and stomachache or vomiting in worst cases.
Walking or exercise of low intensity promotes blood circulation of the digestive apparatus and causes a certain degree of friction, helping actions of digestion and absorption by the digestive apparatus.
The intervals between exercises and meals should be set in consideration of the properties and amounts of foods.
