The DPRK is now in festive mood with the Day of the Shining Star, the birthday of Chairman Kim Jong Il (February 16), approaching.
Every year the Korean people have significantly celebrated this day as the greatest national holiday.
On this occasion, working people of different strata, service personnel, school youth and children of the country are visiting his birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp, the Revolutionary Site in Mt Jangja associated with his revolutionary activities during the Fatherland Liberation War and other historic sites of the country.
Recollecting the revolutionary life of Kim Jong Il who provided the firm foundation for the victory of the socialist cause, all the visitors resolve to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered in Mt Paektu from generation to generation.
Colorful celebrations are taking place in Pyongyang and other parts of the country.
The 23rd Kimjongilia Festival opened with due ceremony and working people's organizations held meetings to praise his immortal exploits.
Such events were also opened as a week of film show, a national photo exhibition, an exhibition of art works, the Ice Sculpture Festival-2019, the Paektusan Prize International Figure Skating Festival, a demonstration performance of synchronized swimming and the Korean stamps exhibition to mark the Day of the Shining Star.
An art troupe of Koreans in Japan gave its premiere and members of art circles of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace gave an art performance in celebration of his birth anniversary.
Meanwhile, the media are intensively dealing with the documentary film "Peerlessly Great Man Who Glorified Juche Era" and other films and articles showing his revolutionary activities.
